MD-PhD Track
Duke-NUS offers a combined MD-PhD track that is unique in Singapore. This option is recommended for students who are committed to research-oriented careers, combining biomedical research with the practice of clinical medicine. Upon completion of the PhD, students will return to the MD component to complete the final (4th) MD year.
The duration of the MD-PhD track varies, but is expected to take a minimum of 7 years to complete. MD-PhD students start on their PhD component after completing the 2nd year of the MD programme. Graduates are awarded a joint Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree by Duke University and NUS, and a PhD degree.
Applicants must have at least a bachelor's degree as required in the PhD in Integrated Biology and Medicine or the PhD in Quantitative Biology and Medicine.
