Duke-NUS Medical School offers various internationally-recognised research and academic programmes in one of the most dynamic and demanding regions for quality healthcare and medical research.

King’s College-Duke-NUS Academic Clinician Pathway will enable students to pursue their undergraduate studies in the School of Bioscience Education, studying Biomedical Science BSc at King’s College London (KCL), before returning to Singapore to embark on their medical training.

Through the highest quality disciplinary research and interdisciplinary collaborations, KCL contribute insights into and solutions for the world’s many diverse challenges, coupled with the rigorous Doctor of Medicine (MD) training Duke-NUS is known for, will train future clinicians who are adept in managing complex problems and global issues in healthcare.

Successful students will graduate with a Biomedical Science BSc (with Honours) upon fulfillment of all requirements of the undergraduate component at King’s College London (KCL), followed by a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Duke-NUS Medical School.

Programme Highlights

This pathway is open only to students admitted into the School of Bioscience Education pursuing Biomedical Science (BSc) at King’s College London.

The programme offers a great flexibility for individuals to follow a degree programme that reflects their scientific strengths and interests, with no compromise on high-quality teaching. Students are given the option to study abroad or undertake a work placement during the second and thirds years at KCL.

Students can expect to stay engaged with Duke-NUS through periodic meetings with Duke-NUS faculty on campus and invitations to activities designed to provide insights into the medical school experience and a career in medicine. Pre-requisites for Application

Application is opened to Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents only. All applicants must fulfil the following requirements to be considered for an invitation to apply to the pathway:

- Attained highly competitive scores for any of the following certifications/examinations

Singapore Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level)
International Baccalaureate (IB)
NUS High Diploma
Diploma for any Polytechnic in Singapore (Final GPA score)

- Holds records of leadership experience and community services

- Accepted admissions into the King's College Undergraduate Programme

How to Apply

Singaporeans and Singapore PRs who have been offered a place at King's College London (KCL) will receive an email invitation to apply for the King's College-Duke-NUS Academic Clinician Pathway. Offered KCL applicants who have indicated their interest will be asked by Duke-NUS to complete the Duke-NUS Conditional Admission Application. A complete application will consist of information from their application, including letters of recommendation, and a personal statement about why they are interested in medicine.

Singaporeans and Singapore PRs who have been offered a place at KCL will receive an email invitation to apply for the King's College-Duke-NUS Academic Clinician Pathway via the Duke-NUS Conditional Admission Application.
Completed applications will be reviewed and selected applicants will be invited for interviews.
Finally, the Admissions Committee will review all interviewees and make a final decision. Successful applicants will receive a conditional admissions offer for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme at Duke-NUS.

Note: The admissions process for each school is independent of each other. Admissions into the undergraduate programme with an indicated interest in the pathway does not automatically qualify an applicant of an opportunity to apply to the track.

Important Note

Students are expected to maintain a stipulated academic performance and fulfil conditions stated in the conditional offer for successful admission into the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme upon their graduation. A general overview of the final acceptance criteria is illustrated below.

Final Acceptance Criteria:

2.1 grading with an average of 65% across final year modules - as an indication of academic performance;
Complete the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) exam by September of the year prior to entry to Duke-NUS;
Achieve appropriate MCAT score or equivalent;
Complete meaningful clinical/medical and service experiences throughout the undergraduate years;
Professional conduct;
Participation in stipulated preparatory activities.
Submission of the Duke-NUS MD application and all required application materials to the Duke-NUS Admissions Department by the specified deadlines, including:
- Submission of complete undergraduate transcript
- Submission of the World Education Services (WES) report for a credential evaluation.
- Production of original degree scroll during the student's first term at Duke-NUS.
