Welcome to Duke-NUS Research!
For 18 years, research at Duke-NUS’ Signature Research Programmes and Centres has flourished. Under Professor Patrick Casey’s stellar leadership, Duke-NUS has published seminal papers, secured significant levels of competitive funding, received local and international scientific awards, influenced public policy, and translated its findings into successful start-ups and major licensing deals, for the ultimate benefit of patients in Singapore and around the world.
It is my privilege to continue this tradition. To increase the School’s momentum, we will continue to strengthen our academic medicine partnership with SingHealth and grow our network of key partners including Duke University, the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and A*STAR, as well as deepen our collaboration with local and international agencies such as the National Research Foundation and World Health Organisation.
We will also invest in building up the enabling infrastructure underpinning our research mission, including robust faculty development, grantsmanship skills for early-career researchers, technology platforms, and public outreach to convey the importance of what we do, and what it means for Singapore. A specific focus will be to harness the intellectual acuity of Duke-NUS’s multiple Signature Research Programmes to investigate complex and challenging topics such as ageing, immunity and health, and precision medicine.
